Completiton reached on Saint Gobain contract, Blackpool
Having already worked on several Saint Gobain projects throughout 2015/2016, 7formation is now well versed in the expectations of the client and the specification of their build projects. This meant that when the construction materials giant was looking for a contractor to undertake works on an existing site in Blackpool, the Corby based team were an obvious choice.
The contract involved the relocation of existing stores to additional buildings within the site and the addition of two new retailers in to the current store. With a mixture of internal and external refurbishment works along with the creation of entirely new retail spaces the project has involved utilising an array of skills from across the 7formation team.
The main building which originally contained brands Blackpool Power Tools and Chadwicks Kitchen Showroom needed major refurbishment and reconfiguration works in order to transform the space in to fit for purpose stores for new clients Grahams and CTD. This included both retail space and trade areas.
Firstly, Blackpool Power Tools was moved to another building within the site and bespoke areas had to be created to ensure this new space offered the very specific facilities required for them to operate. The project team worked closely alongside client merchandisers to create a secure tool compound and repair workshop. In order for these services to operate successfully 7formation custom built a series of features including customer serving areas and secure holdings.
Once all facilities were transferred over, this left the original building available to receive an entirely new fit out for the two new clients and the remaining tenant, Chadwicks. Chadwicks’ kitchen showroom received a complete facelift with the introduction of ceramic tile flooring , newly decorated walls and ceilings, LED lighting and new kitchen displays. Grahams and CTD had store areas built from scratch within he footprint of the old Blackpool Power Tools store.Various works were undertaken to the external areas and the main building received new cladding and signage which improved the overall image of the retail unit. All windows have been replaced on the front and side elevations and new aluminum doors have been fitted improving the aesthetics and security of the stores.
7formation also built custom made display bays which the company designed for the CTD Stockton fit out earlier this year. These are now being rolled out across all stores nationwide
One major challenge encountered during the build phase was the discovery of asbestos within the site. Upon investigation it was agreed that the risk posed was severe enough to warrant the assignment of specialist removers and HS&E experts, meaning strain was put on the original deadline. However, by working with all necessary parties and readjusting the project schedule 7formation has been able to mitigate any major impact on the timeline while also ensuring the highest possible safety standards are kept.
