Project Description
Client: The Inn Collection
Location: Helmsley, Yorkshire
Duration: 32 weeks
ICG engaged with 7formation to fully refurbish their newly acquired landmark hotel, The Black Swan, which is in the beautiful historic town of Helmsley, North Yorkshire.
Dating back to the 15th Century, the hotel has Tudor, Edwardian and Victorian buildings which have been converted over the centuries to make one building. Throughout its history, the hotel has hosted many well-known people. William Wordsworth was one of its first famous guests. Several members of the royal family stayed there as well as many other celebrities.
The works included a complete remodeling of the ground floor reception, bar, and restaurant areas as well as a full refurbishment of all the existing 45 bedrooms and internal alterations to allow the hotel to add 16 new bedrooms, all to the Group’s
renowned high specification and branding. The original heating systems, plant areas, and all mechanical and electrical services were stripped out and replaced to a high specification. Working closely with the design team throughout this extensive refurbishment, 7formation remained mindful and respectful of the sensitivity of the building’s history, recognising the importance of retaining the charm, character, and features of the building.
The project was handed over in phases to enable the client to trade early as work progressed. The project was completed in January 2022.
