A 32-week project was undertaken to construct a 450-square-meter new-build supermarket. The work began with the essential groundwork, including Highways 278 improvements to enhance access, advanced drainage installation to manage rainwater and wastewater, and the laying of solid foundations to ensure stability and support. Alongside these, the car park was surfaced with tarmac to provide a durable, tidy finish, complemented by block paving and landscaping to create an inviting entrance.
Once the groundwork was complete, construction moved to the superstructure. A robust steel frame was erected to form the backbone of the building, designed to support brickwork, cladding, and roofing panels. This was followed by the installation of Anglian Marly roofing, chosen for its durability and insulation, ensuring the supermarket’s interior would be well-protected and energy efficient.
The final stage focused on external works and preparing the building for operation. Shutters, doors, and windows were fitted to secure the premises while enhancing its appearance and customer experience. Internally, smooth and hardwearing concrete flooring was laid to withstand heavy footfall and allow flexible store layouts. These finishing touches ensured the supermarket was both fully functional and visually appealing, ready to welcome customers.
